What has climate change done here?
What is surprising us in Makoko is, we need to talk to the government about it because we are really surprised businesses are not moving anymore, jobs are not moving anymore it's not easy for both male and female . We don't know maybe it's because of the sand that they're taking from the lagoon that is causing it, we don't know, but right now we are confused, we are at the point of confusion and need government intervention we need government to help us because what is happening to us in Makoko we can't explain. Government should kindly look on us and have mercy there's no money in the whole of the community, no money, it has not been easy for both women, it has not been easy for both men, all we need is help, it's support that we need. We don't know what is happening but things are not moving normally anymore there's no money, we all need money we need help.
What do you think world leaders have to do now to stop things from getting worse and to help us adapt?
Any kind of help that the government believes is right and fair — they should do it. What we need right now is help. Their children, their sons and daughters, are unemployed. Nothing is working. We are struggling just to survive. We have no jobs, and even finding food is difficult — it’s heartbreaking. We don’t have money to eat. We don’t have anything. We just need help. Whatever the government thinks is the right thing to do for us, they should go ahead and do it. That’s all we’re asking for — real, suitable help.
